Brianna earned a Gold Key during the Scholastic Art Awards, Colorado Region. She submitted a self portrait. As a Gold Key winner, she would have qualified for Nationals and for scholarship. However, Brianna did not submit the additional 8 photos with her original submission required for the next level of judging. Sometimes Brianna can be self critical and disqualify herself before the judges get a chance to see her work. I was disappointed, but choose to focus on the honor she did receive. Later, Brianna said that she wished she had entered the additional pictures. I was proud of that. You never know unless you put yourself out there, how people will respond to your art.
