Brianna's bedroom walls - finished!

We finally ended the project of painting Brianna's room. She wanted a light teal color with alternating matte and glossy stripes, and here it is!
It took two tubes of clear caulk, plenty of painting tape, nearly three cans of paint, more time than necessary, but it has been accomplished; and quite nicely, I might add.

Brianna's new hair, before and after.

the color most naturally mine that could be achieved with chemicals in five hours. hooray! :)
...and now i'm being told by my mother that i did not post enough, so i'm adding this little bit that doesn't really apply to my hair, but will make up for the "entire paragraph" which she requested (she didn't really) so that this run-on sentence will appear to be a quite lengthy explanation about going to the salon for a whole five hours, having my hair processed with multiple things - including, but not limited to: color correction, toner, deep conditioning, and at least two treatments of neutral brown dye - talking about how angry music isn't really angry and how it's just expressive, and being told by the owner and the two stylists that it actually is angry, and being praised for knowing the words to the songs on the radio... but i only did because i listened to them in junior high and happen to have an adequate memory.
alright that should take care of the paragraph problem; although i don't think it made a whole lot of sense.

p.s.
sorry for the lack of capital letters, i don't really like them.

Happy Thanksgiving

We were very lucky to get an invitation from our new neighbors. I was dreading Thanksgiving with just the five of us. My picky eaters don't always like the traditional menu. I love the traditional menu and I want to cook big with just the right amount of left overs. For me, Thanksgiving is best with company.
So, I was both touched and grateful when the invitation came. We had a variety of food, and plenty of it. We enjoyed the company of very young children,  lively young adults and lovely conversation with folks I know will become treasured friends.
Thank you, my new friends and neighbors for blessing our family.

My new storage room

Our new home will need some improvements. The first on the list is creating a storage room that is functional in our unfinished basement. We will leave 25% with bare walls and floor. It will house the furnace and water heaters. It will have deep shelves to store holiday decorations. (We decorate for all holidays) And this little room. The food storage room. Brian finished the shelves just last week. It was good to unpack what we brought with us. It is a little light on the home canned stuff. I will get on that...

Don't the shelves look great?

When this quarter of the basement is framed in and all the shelves in place, it will serve as temporary  hold for everything else that has been stacked in the basement because it did not have a place any where else in the house.

Not only did our new home lack a storage room, it also lacks a sewing room!!!

At first that did not bother me. I don't need carpeting and paint to sew and craft. I did not realize how unfinished our basement is. No outlets. NONE. A big open dry space. (Did I mention that basements here are dry?) So, until the basement is finished, my things will be in boxes in storage.

Phase two will be the creation of a guest room sewing room, bath and rec. room.

I don't think I will feel moved in until all the boxes are emptied and put away.
