Winter Inspirations

I am always looking for ways to decorate year round. How do you decorate for January? It is some where between putting away the Christmas decorations and putting up Valentine hearts. January can be a let down too. So why not bring in some happy cheerful projects. Like this one; http://www.theidearoom.net/2010/02/snow-man-oven-mitt-tutorial.html

I did try these at first with white bias binding... Than I tried the dark blue. I like the dark blue.

I loved this pattern at first sight. I should not have. My preference is to avoid piecing motifs together to make an afghan. Its like making 42 hot pads. (and who wants to do that?) But, I could not resist the irony of wrapping yourself up in a snow storm. The pattern can be found here;  http://www.joann.com/snowflake-crochet-throw/prod1531862/

You know that I tried to find an alternate to Red Heart. Just because Red Heart is simply not the softest, cuddliest yarn out there. However, I wasn't able to find the color way among the other options. The color way makes the snow flakes look close up and lets you imagine a storm of snow flakes in the blurry distance. So, I followed the pattern... that is until the finish. I did add my own edging.
That is why I craft. Not only to create but to be creative.
Whether or not I improve on the patterns is a matter of opinion.
Today, as I look on the most recently finished project, I am happy with the results.
When January rolls around, I will be ready!
